Safely Removal In OS

If iODD's partition is NTFS, then this function is mandatory when disconnecting iODD from host.
NTFS does not write Immediately the data to HDD.
  • Please do Safely Removal before disconnection.
  • If iODD is write-protected mode and an error message appears, then disable write-protect option. and retry this function.

Initialization

  • Two sorts of the firmware are NTFS version and FAT32/exFAT version.
  • NTFS firmware version is shipped.
  • If you want FAT32 or exFAT Partition, download the NTFS Firmware Updater.
  • follow the next steps
  1. assemble the HDD or SSD with iODD
  2. connect the iODD to PC
  3. initialize the drive with MBR
  4. Format the first partition with NTFS. (if the firmware is FAT, then format with FAT32 or exFAT)
    • At FAT32 there is 4G byte file size limitation. please use that carefully.
  5. create _ISO folder in root folder. (not case sensitive)
  6. create or copy *.ISO *.VHD *.RMD *.IMA (or sub folder tree) to _ISO folder
  7. safely remove iODD. ( very Important if NTFS)
  8. If Power Saving mode is active, then disconnect and reconnect the USB cable.
  9. it will display sequentially. : iodd 253(4)1 -> a file name

Initialize All

If Initialization fails, follow the next steps
  1. disconnect the USB cable.
  2. Get out the HDD from iODD. and Connect directly it to PC.
  3. Initialize it with 'GPT'.
  4. redo Initialization (from the first step). (your HDD is initialized in order MBR -> GPT -> MBR).

First Aid

If it has failure suddenly, try one of next steps until no error
  1. (2531) press the Jog Dial and hold, and connect iODD to PC.
  2. try Safely Removal In OS.
  3. Check Disk for iODD ( for Windows)
  4. Rename _ISO folder to old_ISO. Create new _ISO folder, and copy files to this folder. (not moving)
  5. Update the latest firmware.
  6. Backup the data of iODD, and Initialize All
If it is hardware problem
  1. Reboot the PC
  2. Change USB cable
  3. Connect iODD to the port of PC back panel.
  4. Try at other PC.
  5. Change HDD.

Using Virtual USB Optical Drive (DVD-ROM or Blu-ray ROM)

  1. copy ISO files to _ISO folder. (or sub folder)
  2. Safely Remove. (necessary in NTFS )
  3. If Power Saving mode is not active , then Go to Power Saving State
    • If Plug Out ... message appears, disconnect the iODD.
  4. Connect iODD to a PC. and power on the PC.
  5. (Optional) Make iODD or USB CD-ROM the first in the priority of BOOT sequence in BIOS.
  6. (Not required if an ISO has been selected). select a ISO file. Selecting a file
  7. If PC don't find booting device (iODD), then reboot the PC. (press Ctrl-Alt-Del)

Booting Error

  • Confirm whether the ISO file is bootable.
  • If your PC is old or does not provide multi LUN, please select CD-MODE (or ODD-MODE).
  • In order to confirm whether the ISO file is bootable, please try to test it with the validated PC.
  • Although it is bootable ISO file, please confirm whether it is same result with USB DVD-ROM.
  • If It can boot in USB DVD-ROM and can not boot in iODD, please use USB Y-CABLE for adding external power.
  • If your laptop has own internal DVD-ROM and iODD does not boot, please disable internal DVD-ROM at BIOS settings. or remove it.

Using Virtual USB fixed disk drive (Virtual Hard Disk)

  • Only fixed VHD file is supported. (Not dynamic VHD nor VHDx files)
  • Also fixed VMDK file is supported.
  • Make VHD files directly by VHD Tool++. (VHD Tool++ can make a file without fragment)
  • You can make VMDK by changing name *.VHD to *.VMDK
  • Select VHD file (Selecting a file) and iODD will be rebooted with CD-MODE and is recognized as USB disk drive (Virtually).
  • If you want DUAL-MODE or to change Write Protect option, rename the VHD file. Refer to VHD Tool++
  • Max 4 Virtual Drive is supported at the same time ( Successive selection within 3 seconds)
  1. Create a VHD file with using VHD Tool++ at _ISO folder

  6. (Not required if a VHD has been selected) Select a VHD file Selecting a file.
  7. If PC don't find booting device (iODD) then press Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot the PC.

Using Virtual USB Removable Flash Drive (Virtual USB Flash Drive)

  • Almost the same as the above method (Using Virtual USB fixed disk drive)
  • But the file extension must be changed. VHD -> RMD

Using Virtual USB Floppy Drive (Virtual FDD)

  • This method is not supported on all computers.
  • Uncompressed floppy image IMA, IMG, BIF, VFD is supported.
  • IMG, BIF, VFD image file extension must be renamed to IMA.
  • Almost the same as the above method (Using VHD)
