  7. If PC doesn't find boot device, then reboot the PC. (Ctrl-Alt-Del)

Using a Virtual USB Removable Flash Drive (Virtual USB Flash Drive)

  • Almost the same as the above method. (Using a Virtual USB fixed disk drive)
  • But the file extension must be changed. "VHD" -> "RMD"

Using a Virtual USB Floppy Drive (Virtual FDD)

  • This method is not supported on some computers.
  • Uncompressed floppy image IMA, IMG, BIF, VFD are supported.
  • IMG, BIF, VFD image file extension must be renamed to IMA.
  • Almost the same as the above method.

Error Messages

"Check HDD" - Drive check required.

  • A drive error has been detected. Please refer to the First Aid section for troubleshooting steps.

"1st partition" or "unsupported partition" - Partition mismatch with firmware.

  • This error occurs when the firmware version (NTFS/FAT32/exFAT) does not match the file system of the first partition.
  • Please refer to the Initialization section to align the partition and firmware types.

"bad or N/S HDD" - Unsupported or faulty drive.

  • The device cannot read the internal drive.
  • Possible causes: Hardware failure of the HDD/SSD or a faulty USB cable. Try replacing the cable or the internal drive.

"Too Many Files" - File limit exceeded.

  • The IODD supports a maximum of 32 files or subfolders within a single folder (including the "_ISO" folder).
  • Please organize your data by splitting files into multiple subfolders.

"NO _ISO Folder" - The "_ISO" folder is missing.

  • The required directory named "_ISO" was not found. Please create a folder named "_ISO" in the root directory.

"NO - DISC" - No supported files found.

  • No compatible files or subfolders were detected inside the "_ISO" folder.

"Disc Locked" - Drive is currently locked.

  • The operating system or a running application has locked the virtual drive. Close any programs accessing the drive or safely reconnect the device.

"DEFRAG" - File fragmentation detected.

  • ISO files support a maximum of 24 fragments. VHD and RMD files must have zero fragmentation (contiguous).
  • To resolve this, perform a Disk Defragmentation using Windows or specialized tools.

"vDISK Limit" - Virtual drive limit reached.

  • The maximum number of concurrently mounted virtual drives is 4.
  • To mount a new drive, please unmount one of the currently active virtual drives.

  • (e.g., The drive was encrypted with version 6.x firmware, but the device is currently running version 7.x firmware).
  • Please ensure that the firmware version matches the encryption structure of the drive.

FAQ

Q: The IODD device does not boot from the PC.

  • Please refer to the Booting Error section for troubleshooting steps.

Q: The touch sensitivity of the buttons is poor.

  • This issue has been resolved in current hardware revisions.
  • For older units: Placing a thin piece of paper or plastic film between the internal drive (HDD/SSD) and the device enclosure may improve sensitivity. (Do not cover the entire drive; ensure proper fit).

Q: I forgot my password. Can I reset it? (I don't mind if the data is lost).

  • Yes. However, resetting the password will permanently erase all data on the drive. Please refer to the Initialize All section to perform a full reset.

Q: I forgot my password. Can I recover the PIN or restore my data?

  • No. Due to the high-level AES-256 hardware encryption, password recovery or data restoration is absolutely impossible, even for the developer or manufacturer.

Q: The LCD only displays "IODD 2541" and does not progress.

  • This indicates a firmware-related hang. Please update to the latest firmware version.

Q: When I mount a virtual drive (VHD, RMD, IMA), the mode changes to CD-MODE automatically. If I switch to DUAL-MODE, the disk becomes write-protected.

  • This behavior is determined by the virtual drive's properties. You can modify these settings by changing the file name or using specialized tools. Please refer to the VHD Tool++ section for details.

Q: How can I unmount currently loaded virtual drives (VHD, RMD, IMA)?

  • You can use one of the following methods:
  1. Press and hold the 7 button for 3 seconds (Available in Firmware version 69+ or 79+).
  2. Navigate to Menu -> Advanced -> Unmount VHDD.

Q: The firmware update fails repeatedly.

  • Ensure you are using a stable USB port and the correct model firmware. Please refer to the How to update section for step-by-step instructions.

Firmware

  1. There are 2 sorts of iODD's Firmware.
  2. FAT version - supports Fat32 and exFAT partition.
  3. NTFS version - supports NTFS partition.
  4. There are 2 types of encryption version. one is 6x . the other is 7x.
    • 7x is more secure than 6x against brute force hacking.
    • 6x and 7x are not compatible to each other.
      • If your iODD is encrypted, then before updating iODD to other firmware, you must backup your data.
